About Us
We are Tanja, Thomas, and Dandy, and with Refugium Krk, we’ve fulfilled our dream of being hosts of a special kind. We fell in love with the island during several visits and left our former careers behind. Now we’re delighted to combine business with pleasure and share some of the Croatian zest for life with our guests.
We are both passionate cooks and, for those interested, offer communal dinners, cooking events, and cooking classes in our konoba.

Tanja
As a former flight attendant, I’ve had the opportunity to experience many places and hotels around the globe. These experiences have shown me what truly matters when it comes to helping people feel at home far from their own four walls. The role of host has always been a part of who I am. Today, I’m able to embrace it with complete dedication here at the Refugium.
In addition, I’ve completed several training programs in energy work with runes and am delighted to be able to share this special form of guidance with others.
As a Pilates instructor with over 25 years of experience—trained by Juliana Afram—I also help people develop and strengthen their body awareness, strength, and balance.

Thomas
As a passionate and versatile handyman, I put my heart and soul into everything related to the home and garden—from small repairs to larger projects. Whether it’s upkeep, maintenance, or creative solutions: I roll up my sleeves, find practical solutions, and make sure everything works reliably.
I consciously spend the rest of my time in nature—that’s where I find balance, renewed energy, and clarity.
After 28 years of self-employment, the Krk Retreat is my labor of love—a place of peace, nature, and inspiration.
Dandy
I’ve been on board since 2022 and keep an eye on everything here.
I’m treated kindly, and I’m very easygoing—I only speak up when it’s really necessary.
To keep things relaxed, please let me know briefly which pets are coming to the sanctuary and whether they’d like to play with me. 🙂
